2007 Peugeot 4007 SUV: Official pics & info

Following yesterday's leak, Peugeot officially released its very first SUV, the mid-sized 4007. Developed as part of the cooperation agreement between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) and PSA Peugeot Citroen, the 4007 will make its official debut at next years Geneva Show with sales commencing in Europe from July 2007.

Styled at Peugeot's design centre, based at Velizy in France, the 4.6 meters long 4007 is basically an Outlander with a new face-job. Cover the front end with your hand and voila, there you have it, the European edition of the Outlander as shown in Paris (check out the photos bellow). At the rear end, Pug designers left the shape of the lights intact, changing only the crystals. Although there are no photos of the interior, I presume that there won't be any major differences from the Outlander.

Peugeot has equipped the 4007 with a 2.2-litre diesel engine (co-developed with Ford) which features a technologically advanced Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS). It develops 156 bhp (115 kW) and 280 lb ft (380 Nm) of torque, and is capable of using a 30% mixture of diesel biofuel, without any modifications. The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the 4WD system is electronically controlled. No word out yet though for any petrol engines.

Its name "4007" uses the double-zero identity as first seen on the 1007 mini model. The "4" represents its size within the Peugeot range and the "7" specifies its generation.

UPDATE : Interior pics from forum-peugeot site . As presumed, "logistics" team won the match against "logic" and the only significant difference between the 4007 & the Outlander is the Peugeot steering wheel.
