Volkswagen Polo GTI Cup Edition with 180 Hp

Following the mediocre reviews that the 150 Hp Polo GTI received from various European car magazines –more of a fast supermini than an original, fun to drive GTi, VW decided to unveil a more powerful and sporty looking version of the Golf GTI’s smaller brother.

Like it's Spanish counterparts, the Seat Ibiza FR (150 Hp) and Ibiza Cupra (180 Hp), the Polo GTI Cup Edition (which as you can understand, is based on the homonymous racing car), wears an upgraded version of the 1,8 litre Turbo which now produces 180 Hp of power and a maximum torque of 235 Nm, available from 2000 rpm.

According to the German car manufacture, the Polo GTI Cup Edition is the fastest production Polo of all times reaching a maximum speed of 225 km/h, while the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is completed in just 7.5 seconds.

Optically, the “Cup Edition” differs from the Polo GTI thanks to a more sporty body kit which includes redesigned front and rear bumpers, a roof spoiler, side skirts, new 17’’ multispoke alloys (205/40 R17) and red brake calibres. There are no changes in the interior which remains the same.

The Polo GTI Cup Edition will be available in three colors (silver, red & black perl) with prices in Germany starting from 22.425 euros.
