2011 Scion xB Release Series 8.0 release at LA 2010

One of the goals of a special series is to live a model giving it a new twist. At Scion, the novelty is certainly not because of the designation, since we are now at 8 for Release Series xB, tC coupe 6 for and 3 for the xD.

For this eighth version, Scion has selected a body kit from Kenstyle with the program of the side sills, and additions to front and rear bumpers. The rear wing will be offered as accessories. Voodoo Blue color is exclusive to this special series. The interior also gets her little blue accents on the upholstery on the carpet, or on the number plate of each of 2,000 copies. Exclusive features also the sunroof.

The price? $ 18,405 in manual or 19,355 for the automatic version. A supplement of more than $ 1,500 anyway

LA Show 2010: Scion Unveils New xB RS 8.0 Special

If there's one thing we can be sure to see at U.S. motor shows it's a limited production version of a Scion model. For the 2010 LA Show, Toyota's small car division has readied the 2011 xB Release Series 8.0 that will begin arriving in dealerships later this month.

The RS 8.0 is offered in a new color called Voodoo Blue, which is not currently available on any other Scion model, and is fitted with a four-piece body kit from Kenstyle that includes front and rear lower lips, side skirts and a $320 optional color-keyed rear spoiler. As with most RS models, there are no alloy wheels included in the package.

What you do get though is a sunroof, which features power tilt and slide function not currently available on regular xB models. Other interior upgrades include seats and door-panel trim covered in an exclusive black fabric with blue color-tuned highlights and unique floor mats embroidered in blue with the "xB RS 8.0" logo.

Scion plans to keep production limited to 2,000 units, each carrying a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $18,405 with a manual transmission, and $19,355 with an automatic transmission, not including a $720 delivery, processing and handling fee.

Scion presents Sema 2010 Scion xB limousine Cartel Customs

It is still curious that the younger and smaller subsidiary of Toyota is one of the manufacturers with the highest representation SEMA. But is that Scion has always been for free. This brand was created less than a decade in the U.S. with a mission to seduce Generation Y has made its enormous potential for customization of your address, and now that the biggest event coming pear in North America, is willing to put all meat on the grill with the help of some of the most reputable U.S. firms, such is the case or magazine GReddy 0-60. Anyway, the most canton of all is the Scion xB limousine Cartel Customs, an idea so outlandish as surprisingly well-executed, with its roof lit, its wet bar and panoramic tele.

There is nothing officially announced less than 10 vehicles (including three prepared by the Army, Navy and Marine Corps United States), but Scion promises new surprises next month in Las Vegas. 2011 Scion tC Coupe Tuning Galore: Five Projects Heading to SEMA Show

Highlighting Scion's presence at next week's SEMA Show will be five customized examples of the Japanese firm's all-new 2011 tC Coupe. When it leaves the factory, the tC is motivated by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine pushing out 185-horsepower.

As you'd expect, most tuners chose the turbocharging route to increase the tC's performance under the hood, with GReddy being the only company to announce output figures (340hp and 325 lb-ft of peak torque). Scroll down for photos and full details (in the spec sheets) for all five tCs.

Scion has Humor: All-Stretched out Cartel xB Limo

With the annual SEMA Show near the world's most famous Strip almost upon us (November 2 to 5), automakers and tuners alike are rushing in to give us an early preview of their custom proposals. The most recent case-in-point: the "All Stretched Out Cartel xB".

The name says it all, but just to clarify, Cartel [King] is the nickname of one of the tuners involved in the creation of the VIP themed, super-long Scion xB, Jeremy Lookofsky. Though, we could see this customized xB being a hit with certain other cartels... Gallery after the jump.

Named value Scion xD RS 3.0

Scion brand is part of the Toyota Motor Corporation, and who recently released a limited edition price Scion xD RS 3.0, 2011, five-door urban mini-car, this month began to do to authorized dealers.

Scion said it will only build 1,500 units of the xD RS 3.0, with each car featuring a unique, individually numbered stainless-steel badge.

Pricing for the special edition of the xD hatch is set at $16,905 when combined with a manual gearbox, and $17,705 when the engine is hooked up to an automatic transmission. Bear in mind that neither figure includes the mandatory $720 delivery, processing and handling fee.

POLL: Would you Rather have a Honda CR-Z or a New Scion tC in Your Garage?

Pretty soon buyers here in the States will have a few new choices when considering an affordable and efficient entry-level coupe or hatch. No, no, we aren't getting VW's Scirocco or Peugeot's RCZ anytime soon (but the Hyundai Veloster is on its way). We're talking about Honda's CR-Z hybrid that goes on sale here in the States on August 24 and Toyota's all-new 2011 Scion tC that arrives in showrooms in early October.

Both cars are priced similar and are designed to appeal to a younger (or young at heart) audience looking for an inexpensive ride with a somewhat sporty feel.

So, what can buyers expect for putting their hard-earned cash in someone else's corporate pocket?

Honda CR-Z:

Two trim levels will be available on the CR-Z, base and EX. Pricing for the base model with a 6-speed manny-tranny will start at $19,950 (the CVT with paddle shifters is a $650 option and forces you to take a 5 lb-ft torque cut), with standard features including the 122-horsepower 1.5-liter IMA gas engine linked to an electric motor, 6 speakers, a radio/CD/USB system with audio jack, automatic climate control, power windows, and 16-inch wheels.

Upgrade to the EX and you get a higher-output stereo system with a subwoofer, Bluetooth, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, HID headlamps, aluminum interior bits, and an available Nav-system. Honda says fuel efficiency for the sporty hybrid will be a combine 34 MPG for the manual, and 37 MPG for the CVT.

Scion tC:

Scion's 2011 second-gen tC drops in October with a new 2.5 liter 4-banger making 180 hp and 173 lb-ft (performance numbers have not yet been released), as well as a starting price of $18,995. The base model will come with a 6-speed manual transmission (selecting an automatic will cost you $1,000).

Standard features on what Popular Mechanics calls a "compelling alternative to the Ford Mustang" 8 speakers, 18-inch rolling stock with 16-inch brakes, panoramic moonroof, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rear seat. Fuel economy will be a combined 26 MPG for either transmission. No word yet on extra packages, but it's Scion, so customization is the name of the game.

Both cars feature as cruise control, traction control, power door locks/windows, and an audio input jack / USB port as standard.

So, what would you rather put in YOUR garage? A fuel-efficient Honda hybrid posing as a sports car or Toyota's more conventional but brawnier (hp-wise) Scion tC?
