Company Hyundai may soon provide convertible Sonata, built at the base sedan's eponymous sixth generation. According to journalists Inside Line, development and serial production of such a vehicle could be the next logical step in the development of the U.S. market.

Convertible Hyundai Sonata gets a folding rag top, and not a rigid roof, which would make the model of cheap and practical for this segment. The car is likely to be offered with two engines (whereas the sedan is available with three) - 2,4-liter four-cylinder rated at 200 strength and 272-horsepower two-liter turbo.

In late April, Inside Line suggested the potential for Hyundai Sonata with a body "coupe". However, official confirmation of this information from the Korean automaker has been received.

The premiere of the sixth-generation Hyundai Sonata was held at the motor show in Los Angeles in 2009. Sales of cars in the United States began in the same year. In addition to the American market, the new Sonata is sold in Korea, India, Singapore and Australia.
