While most people will be concentrating on the roided-out wagons and Euro-fighting econoboxes showing up in New York, outdoors-y types are probably more concerned with the recent British Leisure Show at Royal Windsor Racecourse.
That's where Airstream - the people who make those retro Coors Light trailers - showed its redesigned Bambi 422 (again; its debut was at Birmingham's National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor Show), which is "the most nimble and lightweight" Airstream around. Sounds sexy.
I'm going to let Michael Hold, Airstream Europe's director of sales, take it from here because I know NOTHING about European caravans and their weight ratings:
"[The Bambi 422] has a MIRO weight of 1080kg and loaded towing weight MTPLM of just 1320kg so you don't need to own a 4x4 to tow one. The VW Golf Diesel 2.0 and BMW 330i are just two examples of vehicles that are more than capable of towing her and it's great to be able to just hitch up and go."
The Bambi has all the necessities I imagine caravan buyers are looking for, including a lounge area, mid-mounted kitchen, and a WC in the rear with "a shower cubicle suitable for six-footers and a vacuum flush toilet."
