Ford Rolls Out 9 Millionth Mustang

About a week after its 44th anniversary on April 17, the 9 millionth Mustang rolled off Ford’s production line. The milestone Stang is a GT Convertible which is heading west to be delivered to a dealership in Iowa. Introduced on April 17, 1964, at the New York World’s Fair, the Mustang has become -among other things, Ford Motor Company’s longest-running nameplate. The Mustang’s sales hit an amazing 419,000 in its first 12 months on the market in 1967, and topped the 1-million mark in the first two years.

The latest, fifth generation model, was introduced in 2004 at the Detroit Show and its success spawned the birth of GM’s and Chrsyler’s retro-penned Camaro and Challenger muscle cars
