Mercedes came out today with the official release of the 2007 CL 63 AMG. Under the bonnet is an AMG engineered 6.3-litre V8 engine that delivers a maximum output of 386 kW/ 525 hp and 630 Nm of peak torque. The CL 63 AMG is propelled from 0-100 in just 4.6 seconds, with top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. Not bad at all for a vehicle of this size and weight but, on the other hand, doesn't that defy the whole concept of a sport vehicle even if luxury is added to the equation? Luckily, in addition to the AMG bodystyling and the AMG sports suspension based on Active Body Control, the AMG high-performance braking system is also fitted as standard as is the PRE-SAFE, the anticipatory occupant protection system. The later and may be supplemented by the addition of both the innovative new PRE-SAFE Brake and DISTRONIC PLUS as an option. Well, we wouldn't want to scare any of those folks I mentioned before with all that power and mass would we now...
